EMS carries out geotechnical investigations for many clients, including private land owners, structural engineering firms and many housing associations to name but a few.
This mini case study details a project recently undertaken on behalf of a structural engineering firm for a housing association in London.
Our expert Geotechnical engineer was called to a site earlier this week, in London, where subsidence problems were a concern for an extension project on an existing building. Our engineer was called in to investigate and report his findings back so that an informed decision could be made.
The investigation process included hand digging pits to a depth of 1.5m (deeper than normal) and creating boreholes with SPT at a depth of 5m.
The findings were reported back to the structural engineers who are currently making decisions as to the appropriate actions to be taken.
