Following the failure of a leach field soakaway system for a septic tank at a rural property in Solihull, Environmental Management Solutions were brought in by drainage contractors to undertake percolation testing in accordance with the Environmental Agency PPG4.
Once initial assessments were made, hand dug percolation pits were excavated in the area for a proposed replacement leach field. Based upon the results from these test pits and with the the nature of the soils interpreted we gave the recommendation that the area was perfect for the relocation.
As always Environmental Management Solutions take great care to minimise disturbance when test pitting and try to always fully reinstate the test pits on completion. These test pits in Solihull, Birmingham were dug in a very established rural garden and the owner was quite anxious of long term damage left behind; we were careful to reinstate the area fully and the owner was very pleased with the result.
Here at EMS we are aware that time is of the essence and so try to complete projects as soon as possible to minimise disturbance and to keep our prices low. The entire operation (including site work and reporting) for this case was completed in just 2 days.
